Rebar mat for the 20-inch court slab, retaining walls in place — Lombard Street Basketball Court Foundation, San Francisco, CA
Overview

New Edge Concrete built the foundation for a custom basketball court at a luxury hillside estate in the Lombard Street area of San Francisco. We cut into the hillside for 10-inch reinforced concrete retaining walls and a 20-inch-thick structural slab with a full perimeter drainage system — roughly 100 yards of concrete, finished smooth and ready to be painted as the final court. Access was extremely tight: we excavated about 300 cubic yards of soil and built temporary ramps over the existing stairs to move equipment and materials safely, protecting the estate's flagstone, landscaping, and artificial turf throughout. Start to finish, about six to seven weeks.
